The South African Library for the Blind renders a library and information service to blind and print-handicapped readers through the production of accessible South African reading material in development of a comprehensive library collection and rendering of advisory services to promote access to information.

Talking Book Topics, Braille Book Review, and International Language Quarterly list selections of titles recently added to the SLAB collection on the Catalog and BARD. SLAB also has book lists on specific subjects and produces popular magazines in audio and Braille.

Since 1919, SALB has offered free Braille and audio materials, devices, and postal delivery. With 24,000+ titles online, quarterly newsletters, and 300+ annual additions, it enriches members' experiences, all governed by the South African Library for the Blind Act.
